To comfort your dog: Do not pick your dog up or display affection--it will
freak him/her out. Act like nothing's wrong. Do not yell or punish your
dog. Try to give him/her a treat and play with his/her favorite toys.

Melatonin will calm some pets--talk to your vet about what brand and
dosage to give your pet. Melatonin is sold over-the-counter.
You can also wrap your dog in ACE bandages, a towel or sweatshirt.
Wrap around chest apply gentle pressure. When wearing any of thiese items, never leave your pet unattended.
Never leave your dog unattended with a "Thunder-shirt" on--they can get themselves caught trying to take it off.
If none of these work, consult your vet.
