Do not use ammonia-based cleaners--ammonia
will smell like urine to your pet and he/she will come back
to the same spot.
Only use cleaners that are specifically designed to
clean pet messes. You can also use paper towels and
warm water with a few drops of dish-washing liquid blotting
the stain with the paper towels. Rinse with fresh water.
Add one third cup of white vinegar to two-thirds cup of
water and dab on the stain, rinse with water, and
blot dry the stain--vinegar neutralizes odors.
Then sprinkle the carpet with baking soda and vacuum.
Never scrub or wipe the stain. Always blot and press.
If you can't see the accident, turn off the lights and
shine a UV light (black light) on the furniture or carpet which
enables you to see the old stains and new. You can buy
it at a pet store.
For vomit or blood use cool water, not hot.
